Crisp Winter Sunset, Berowra There something abou Crisp Winter Sunset, Berowra

There something about the light in winter. I can see the lights from the towns in the Blue Mountains a lot more easily, and shining a lot brighter, in the cold winters evenings from my balcony.

This, quite clearly, is not from my balcony, but there you go. Crisp winter colours contrasting against bush rock for you to enjoy this chilly evening.
Washtub Gully So this is an image I came upon as Washtub Gully

So this is an image I came upon as I am currently creating a personal journal for the years 2020/2021. It's an iPhone shot taken on a morning walk down at Berowra Waters one (very!) misty morning in September 2020. I have missed those mornings (no pun intended) for sure this year.
Yours truly Yep this is me, doing what I love to Yours truly

Yep this is me, doing what I love to do. And excuse the ‘post’ because it's not really a post. However apparently in this day and age you need to have some portrait photos of yourself on Instagram and Facebook accounts in case you get hacked, so that the powers that be can see it's you. So this is me.

In saying that I really wish I'd had the shoes I was wearing here (rubber Tevas) with me in the Scotland. That would have let me stand in the water there to get different compositions of the waterfalls cascading down the hills and mountains. But it wasn't to be, so I stayed dry!
Loch Maree, Scotland So this from my recent trip Loch Maree, Scotland

So this from my recent trip to Scotland. My holiday was a little bit of a pilgrimage, visiting my sister in the West Country, then flying to the Highlands after that – where I first holidayed as a 10 year old. And ending with my old friends on the east coast where I grew up in Great Yarmouth.

In the Highlands the weather was really quite structured. Either blue skies or low grey clouds clinging to the mountains in the morning. If there had been clouds in the morning, there was a transition period between 11:00am and 1:00pm and the afternoons would then be clear blue skies. You can imagine that Blues and Greys are not the landscape photographer’s friend. Whilst the blue sky made the country full of wonder for a holiday and just ‘being there’, it meant there was very little interest both in the sky and in the landscape during that time. However I wasn’t complaining! – the temperature was wonderful.

I had two nights overlooking Loch Maree. The first night was on the drive there, after a delayed flight - thanks easyJet - and I was trying to make Gairloch in time for dinner at the hotel. I have to say I was flustered. I was driving/stopping/driving/stopping with one eye on the clock and one on the landscape. To make matters worse I had managed (due to tiredness) to sit on my glasses as I had put them on the car seat whilst I took a previous image! (Thankfully I had a spare pair)

This is a very famous viewpoint overlooking Loch Maree, and is very popular with campers. I made a very fleeting stop, so this is one of my first images whilst in the Highlands. I will likely post much better images of this from the second night, but for once I'm actually posting photos in order.

Enjoy…
Happy Friday Everyone! And in case anyone wishes Happy Friday Everyone!

And in case anyone wishes to know the precise location - even I can't remember it :-)
Sunrise, Little Wobby, NSW Sometimes the little t Sunrise, Little Wobby, NSW

Sometimes the little things catch my eye. In this instance there was a lovely magenta glow at sunrise, as i looked towards Little Wobby from Brooklyn. The magenta glow was above the escarpment, and also on the water below. In this instance I grabbed my telephoto lens, to fill the frame with the colour and interest. I love the way the houses at the bottom of the frame add local colour and local interest, to the escarpment walls above. The image has a real sense of the Hawkesbury to it.

And sometimes less is more!

Please feel free to share my photos for personal use and thank you for your support.
Hartland Quay, Devon, UK And I’m back. Had a gr Hartland Quay, Devon, UK

And I’m back. Had a great time back in the Homeland, and seeing old haunts and new places. One such new place was Hartland Quay in North Devon. It was a simple matter of googling ‘Best Landscape Locations Devon’ to find where to go. Thank you internet!

And! The Weather! Clear blue skies, lots of sunshine, and lovely and warm.

However, as we all know boys and girls, blue skies do not maketh easy landscapes. And in this instance my ‘work harder’ for the image adage, would not hold true either.
So – here we go – a ‘Picture Perfect Postcard’ image for you to enjoy of Hartland Quay. It was truly magnificent to see the cliffs and the blue seas, and the striations of the rocks offset by the slight swell.

Enjoy…

Girl and Mural, Singapore And now for something c Girl and Mural, Singapore

And now for something completely different. Those that follow me will know that this is a landscape account, and I very rarely post anything else other than landscapes. However I've become increasingly interested in street photography recently, trying to capture those odd fleeting moments that you see in day-to-day life around the streets.

And! I'm posting this because I'm probably going to be in Singapore at the time that this is scheduled. I'll only be in the airport, which is sad, but I'll be on my way home which conjures up all those feelings for everybody as they make their way home. So this was taken in Chinatown in Singapore, and as you can see the girl is walking beside a mural, and has covered her face. Why we shall never know. Does she not like the stares?

Normal service resumes next time, whatever that might be
Berowra, NSW A scheduled post as I am (still!) tr Berowra, NSW

A scheduled post as I am (still!) travelling…

Another image from a recent morning walk. I was walking along one of the many bush tracks in Berowra, very early one morning and the mist was hanging in the air. I was on the way in to my planned destination shoot, when I noted the colours of this magnificent trunk. It really did glow in the morning light. I have hardly altered the colours in this image, but it doesn’t really do it justice. I didn’t really want to make it look unreal tho. Once again, as per a previous post, it's not always the grand features that make a good photo, but the minutiae that you can see when you slow down.
