Description
Kangaroo Point Gold
This is the final image I took down at the Brooklyn Bridge, at a low tide with lovely puddles in the rock pools. I had shot the sun rising, and as a lucky last I thought I would try a pano. The sun was just a little higher than I would have liked, but as I noted, it was a bonus shot. Or several actually, about ten images stacked with massive overlap. Given the dynamic range, I doubled processed the merged RAW files to allow a little more detail in the sun. One file normal, one file two stops under, and masked to merge. So quite a lot of effort, but, when I look at this, I have not seen a photo like it – combining the yellows of the rising sun with the real golds on the metalwork of the bridge.
It’s more than a 180 degrees pano, and also slightly ‘squished’ (technical term to get it to fit the 2.4 to 1 ratio.
And after all that tech talk – just enjoy the sunrise!
