The Ruins – All Quiet at The Ruins
I have happy memories of this place, being taken out by good friends. It’s the local boat ramp where ‘trailer sailers’ are launched every weekend. They are launched with much gusto by their ‘trailer sailor’ owners, looking forward with much anticipation to a great day on the water. It’s not the quietest place then, and one can wait for ages to launch, amongst the bustle. You get to see some driving skills that really should not be paraded in public, when tensions get high.
As a contrast to the bustle, it was lovely to get down here on a quiet evening, with the car park quite empty. I saw from some tradies winding down after a day of toil. Also a couple eating dinner off a camp table before bedding down for the night in their campervan. We were all able to enjoy the sun slowly setting behind the fjord rocks.
We are, in Sydney, blessed to have so much natural beauty so close. Do we always open our eyes and see it?
