The images for river properties always look so enticing in the Real Estate agent windows, don’t they? Escape to the river and Escape The World. I reckon that is about right.
As usual, I had taken the long-odds bet when I went down to The Waters on Monday night for sunset. Small, just-above-the-horizon-colour does not cut it down there, as the angles of the banks means you are looking 25-30 degrees into the sky. So you need the sky to ‘go off’ or you get no colour in your frame. So I first set myself up just by the ferry ramp, as I have not got a ferry sunset yet, however, whilst there was a little colour, it was mainly coming waaaay over to the south.
So, very unusually for me when there is any colour in the sky, I moved locations (you lose many minutes even if it is a one or two minute walk with the need to find a good composition again) and set up again by the river-side. For one or two minutes there was Great Colour, and it then faded. I was able to shoot three images in that time and this is the pick for me at the moment. It look so serene …
