Photographer Bio
Welcome to my site. I am extremely excited about it, and it has taken a lot of work from me and the wonderful folk at Rapid Websites, but it is finally here. I hope you enjoy it. I’ll start the blog section with a little bit about me…. The ‘About Me’ section says….
Andrew has had a camera firmly in his hand since he was six. He started with that original 126 format first film camera, where the price of processing a four inch square print in black and white was ten shillings per print – that’s six pounds sterling for a roll of twelve images, dear reader. Kodak themselves did the developing and printing.
Andrew then moved to the world of 35mm print film, before investing in first one, then two 35mm SLR cameras. Why two? Because at that time, he needed a second camera to shoot both print and also enter the wonderful world of slide film, firstly on Kodachrome and then the eye-opening Fuji 50, later to become Velvia. Remember film? It’s important to remember film, as I was drawn to the vivid colours of Velvia that were for a long time not available in the digital world.
The years passed, and Andrew took a few thousand pictures, then spent a decade tending to the needs of brides and, to a much lesser extent, grooms, before Andrew returned to what he is passionate about, taking photographs of this wonderful world we live in, its moods, atmospheres, its wild ways and its serenity. Happiness is standing in waves crashing around your knees. Happiness is crouching in a blowing gale on the edge of a rock precipice. And happiness is actually getting a shot when the last three times at that particular location the light did just not come to the party when you were there. Andrew had has his work published nationally and internationally. Now it’s your turn to enjoy it.
So what does that all mean? Apart from a Photographer Bio? It means I love taking pictures of things that stay still, well, that stay lot more still than a two-year old or a puppy. I know the sea doesn’t stay still, but that’s another topic. I have followed David Meunch (go on, look him up – he was doing what Ken Duncan did way before Ken did it) Ken Duncan, Peter Lik and all the other masters of Australian landscape photography since the eighties. I’ve always carried a camera more than most – and that’s way before they were as small as they are now. That all means I do landscape photography, nature photography, Australian photography.
I have done it all my life so I finally figured I should share my images with you all. My Facebook page has been up and running for about six months now and I am truly grateful for all the ‘likes’, the shares and the comments that initially my family and friends made, but more recently a much wider audience are saying the same things. It’s lovely to hear and encourages me to keep going on my landscape photography.
A little bit about the products that I have for, in closing. I searched wide to find good suppliers. They love what they do, and they are really good, when judged by professional imaging – not local-office-supplies!!! – standards. They are not based in Sydney, which does mean products take a bit longer to order. However, doing this means I can keep costs affordable. That means that you can get a high quality product on your wall without breaking the bank. I have sold so many items thus far without even trying.
Thanks so much for dropping by.
