How many times do we drive over motorway bridges? If we are lucky enough to live in Sydney how many times have you driven over the bridge at Mooney over the mighty Hawkesbury river on a trip up the coast? I found myself one evening, having just finished a sunset shoot, taking a final walk around and chanced upon this scene. The very last light on the clouds was dim enough to make a long exposure easy. It’s a two-image stitch, so I needed to guess the amount of traffic on each exposure to get the headlight trails looking the same in the left and right sides of the image. The net result? We have a humble bridge taking on the appearance of a brochure-style image. The stone walls in the water add nice lines to the composition and draw the eye to the (accidentally) brightest light.
