Norah Head Channel
I had an idea for a shot for a while. The rock platform at Norah Head has some lovely channels hewn into the rock. The seas pound into these channels and sometimes blow like a mini blow hole. I checked on PhotoPills and noted that for some months of the year, the Milky Way would rise in line with those channels.
So one Saturday night early in the Astro season, I put the plan into action. Hmmm… Let’s see. I wasn’t really feeling very well. It was autumn and the weather had just turned much colder. An hour’s drive, a walk, then a shoot, then drive home. Hmmm indeed!
So I arrived at Norah Head, expecting it to be full of ‘togs, however I pretty much had the place to myself. I wandered across the platform and set up. A couple of test images followed, and … Well… it turned out the Core didn’t really line upD’oh!!!So, I shot anyways and continued to find other compositions. Back home. The shot look good but not great. A little while later, and trying a few things I hadn’t tried in Photoshop before, I ‘moved’ the Galactic Core* It now lined up as I had imagined.
