Description
This is me sitting in the pitch black high above Berowra Waters. Well not actually me, but is it the Marina as I doubt you have ever seen it before. I am still learning the craft of Astro photography, and I wanted to capture the lights and reflections along the waters, and also the Milky Way above. It was pitch black, so in my image, there was way (no pun intended) too much light from the Marina – that I didn’t really want – and not quite enough from the Milky Way – which I did want. So a whole lot of post-processing later and I have come up with an image that I think gets the idea of what I wanted to take. I painted the light onto the trees with my iPhone. There is no right or wrong with Milky Way shots, but I hope you like it. I often get asked ‘did it look like that when you were there?’ and the answer is ‘no’. It does looks like a thin band of white high above.
Technically: – EOS5D Mk III, 20s, F4, ISO3200, processed twice in RAW – 1-stop over and 0.5-stop under and then blended. There! Complicated or what 🙂
