Gentlemans Halt, Hawkesbury River
So yours truly found himself early one January morning, whipper-snipper in hand, attacking my lawn edges. A couple of glances to the sky, and, boy, those white fluffy clouds looked soooo good. Hmmm, but the lawn was getting long, and it was going to be a hot one. I soldiered on… and then…
Exit stage left! The lawn could wait, and off I drove to a location I had previously scouted near Marlow NSW. Good job I had, the best photos are not to be taken at the highest or most obvious lookout so I knew exactly where to crouch down. Whilst the heat bore down on me, and the cicadas sang, there was the merest breeze to stop me melting.
This is a pano, so it’s a hugely wide angle, and cropped tight to get this look. The clouds added contrast and texture to the sky (avoiding Blue Sky Madness), and the rock to the left, and tree trunk to the right framed the bed of the river beautifully. I really consider this one ‘job done’ for a daytime shot of Gentlemans Halt – no need to re-visits for any more daytime shots! – Now let’s check that sunset forecast 😊
And then to reality. A drive back, two hours later, two hours hotter, to the furnace that was our back lawn and back to the mower. It’s worth it!
