Description
Somersby Falls Top Tier – Fairy Glen
I have taken a fair few waterfall images in my time. They usually end up oh-so-green, and with dense green fern foliage, plenty of bright water highlights, and dark shadows and rocks to offset it all. So I decided to try something very different in post-processing, and went for a high key approach.
Where am I? – well, you guess – or alternatively look at the title. I guess it doesn’t really matter as it’s now unworldly. I decided to give it a go like this as there was a little colour still in the sky as I arrived very, very, late in the day. Thus it brightened the scene considerably. In addition I gave a few tweaks to ensure the water looked as delicate as I could get it, by carefully holding back the highlights.
Landscape photo tip – you can only get light like this well after sundown. Other wise the sky will blow out completely.
I was so pleased with the outcome here – a lovely change.
