Brooklyn Ferry MV Sun – Ferry to the Sun
One morning down at Brooklyn, I was lucky enough to catch lovely pre-sunrise colour in the sky. Classic Australian landscape photography colours. However, there are always many facets to a morning – especially if you are willing to slow down and stay a while. The sun always rises later than the stated time in Brooklyn, as it has to rise (unseen) over the hidden horizon until it gets over the escarpment. As such, when it appears, it is very bright compared to when it rises over a flat horizon.
As luck would have it, the Brooklyn Ferry MV Sun was sailing off to the east just as the sun finally poked over the parapet. An aperture of F22 gave the nice sunburst. I timed the shutter with just a smidge of the sun poking through the cloud to contain the highlights as best I could. Many separate vignette layers draw the eye from boat to sunrise, and give the idea, of well, just where will the Brooklyn Ferry MV Sun end up this morning?
Sometimes the image will tell a story with no manipulation, other times the photographer using processing can help. It is always good to experiment when the subject suits. The result is a very atmospheric landscape image for you to buy beautiful landscape photography online for your wall.
